Computer Consulting (mainly custom web application development)
Tips:

  1. Get some experience with an employer in your industry before you strike off on your own.
  2. While getting industry experience, do some networking, get your name known and respected so that you will have immediate clients when you start your own enterprise.
  3. Don’t be tempted to cut costs by spending money on cheap (substandard) capital and services (ie: There are plenty of cut-rate logo designers out there, but you may not get the quality and efficiency of a place like LogoWorks).
  4. Take time out for yourself when needed. It can be easy to fall into the trap of putting too much time into the business and losing your focus from stress. Sometimes a short break can help you to regroup and come at the problem from a different angle.
  5. Spend the time, money and effort setting up your workspace to be a pleasant and peaceful place that you actually enjoy being in. The best way to do good work is by being relaxed and enjoying your surroundings. Even the most dull of tasks (sometimes necessary) can be pleasant in the right atmosphere.
