Todays Special: Holiday Cards
THE VALUE OF SENDING HOLIDAY CARDS IN A BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT
By Elizabeth B. Jensen, Cherries Jubilee Creations

As the owner of a card crafting company, I truly understand the significance of a card.
Receiving an envelope, with a card inside, is like an appetizer to a delectable meal. You can hardly wait to devour it, because you know the main course is on its way. So, you open up the envelope and for your main course you are dazzled with the perfect card and flattered someone took time out for you. For dessert, you open up the card and the sentiment inside is the perfect end to your meal: sweet and memorable.
Cards are like a meal: the good ones will be remembered and talked about. As a business owner, you want to be remembered, talked about and kept in the forefront of your customers’ minds. In today’s Internet-based society, correspondence through snail mail is a surprise and always welcome to the recipient. Holiday cards are a great way to remind customers they are important to you and your business, and also a great way to thank your customers for their business.
The marketing potential of a holiday greeting card is powerful, as it’s the one time of the year when you can disguise your mailer or promotional ad. Holiday cards are usually proudly displayed in the office or the home throughout the season. Plus they carry no obligation. I think of the winter season and holidays as a time when we express gratitude for family and friends. In the corporate world, it, too, is a great time to show employees and customers how much their business means to you.
Since there are so many different holidays during the winter season, you may want to set your business apart from the crowd by sending a Thanksgiving or New Year card instead of a Christmas or Hanukkah card.
Once you’ve decided the type of holiday wishes you want to send, there are so many different types of cards to choose from. Laughter is a great way to connect with others, so if you choose the comical route, be sure your card has a widespread appeal and positive message. Other business owners prefer an elegant or more formal greeting.
Make this holiday season a memorable one by dishing up a card design conveying an appreciation that will keep your customers coming back for more in the business year ahead.
